Do You Need Help?

The truth: you already know whether or not you need help. As you go through your day, it’s probably in the back of your mind. “I could really use some help. I have so much to do! How am I going to get everything done?”

If that little voice isn’t clear enough for you, however, here are three other signs that it’s time to get some help.

Three Signs That it’s Time to Get Some Help

1. Stagnation

I’m doing everything I’m supposed to do, but I’m not making any more forward progress in my business!

A stagnant business may mean that you need help. It could be that a fresh pair of eyes could show you what part of your efforts need beefing up, or the problem could be that you’re just existing without having any time to work on marketing, writing, proposals, or other areas important for growth.

2. Burnout

I spend so much time marketing that I have to work nights and weekends on my regular client work. When is it going to pay off?

You might be reaching a point of burn-out because, in order to get absolutely everything done on your own, you’re having to work ridiculous hours. When your every waking hour is consumed by your business, your personal relationships and even your health may be suffering quite a bit. It can be hard to see whether or not all your hard work is getting you anywhere when you have no chance to measure it, let alone appreciate it.

3. Disenchantment

I’m getting buried under all of the administrative and overhead components of my business, and I’m losing my passion. Why did I even get into this business?

It can be so easy to lose sight of your dream. You may enter a field planning to do something you love, whether that is something creative or something social or whatever, but the reality of life and business is that there is always much more behind-the-scenes work that needs to be done. If you’re finding that you dread work, now, even though you’re trying to do something you once loved, it may be time to step back and let someone else take over the tasks that don’t require you to get done. Your quality of work may suffer if you ignore the sign!

At some point, a one-(wo)man business has to hire help or partner with some other talented professionals or suffer the consequences: stagnation, burnout, and disenchantment. I would encourage you to start to weigh the benefits and risks of moving forward and getting some help. Next, we’ll talk about some different forms of help you might be able to bring in.
